Halloween Spooktacular Pumpkin Makeover

I purchased a outdoor pumpkin at a yard sale last year for $1 and today I am going to show you the new and improve spooktacular pumpkin.

I used chalkboard paint and give this pumpkin three coats. Next I took three different button sizes and made circles all over the pumpkin. I then applied Mod Podge onto the circles and the month, then I added silver glitter. Once the glitter was dry I did spray adhesive on  each circle.
This is my scary pumpkin all lit up. I love how it turned out, but it's going to look great when I put it outside.

My little girl got the creative bug and made this lovely pumpkin painting. I just love how her creative mind works. Did you see this old vintage ceramic pumpkin I picked up at a yard sale for a $1. This piece will also be outside as well.
I love the glitter around the eyes and mouth. It makes the pumpkin look spooktacular.

This is the extent of my spooky pumpkins. I am more into the happy pumpkins and cute witch. Plus my little girl does not like scary Halloween. She won't even walk down the scary aisle at the stores. I keep Halloween rated G. : )

Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

Vanessa

Room Makeover Part 3

I have spent the last 4 days purging, organizing and cleaning my little girl's room. If I showed you the before pictures you would fall over in shock. I couldn't believe I let her room get so bad. I had 3 trash bags full. I don't have any before because I was so bent on getting the room straighten out that I got in the zone and cleaned. I finally have it all cleaned up and I am ready to add the finishing touches to her room.

Here is what her room looks like without any wall decors bed, bedding, wall decor, rug or curtain.

It doesn't seem like much, but to me the small details are the hardest part. I hope to have this finished in time for her birthday. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again for stopping by.

Hugs,

Vanessa

Furniture Makeover- Girl's Room Makeover Part 2

This week I am continuing to show you two more French Provential pieces for my girl's room. I have finished her desk and night stand. I used the same paint that I used on the chest - (furniture makeover part 1).

I love furniture pieces that have curvy legs, it just makes me smile. : ) Not only did this desk turned out beautiful, but it's functional with all those drawers. Those drawers are going to hold a lot of art supplies.

I couldn't resist adding turquoise to the sides of every drawer and lining the drawers with that fun bubble gum wrapping paper. I am a collector of  ladies vintage handkerchiefs and vintage children's books. I have quite a collection of books and I used a few that I want to display in her room. My favorite book is "Little Women" and I can't wait to read it to my girl. The piece of resistance is this gold crown that every girl should have in her room.

This next piece is the night stand and again more drawers. A girl can't have too many drawers. I also picked up at a yard sale this walnut color jewelry box, that I painted in turquoise and then added a white glaze over it. This is perfect for all her jewelry collection. : )

These pieces turned out fabulous and I have a chair for her desk that is getting a makeover as well and lots of decorative pieces as well. Little miss and I are excited and looking forward to finishing up her room. Thanks a bunch for stopping by.

Vanessa

Leftover Steak Meal

Today I want to share with you a recipe I came up with one day, because I wasn't really in the mood to cook my usually go to meals. At a very young age (12) I learned how to cook over the phone. Yes, that is correct! I would come home from school, call my mom at work and she would walk me through step by step  on how to make beans, rice, chicken and so on. Oh, I should tell you, every meal I cooked was Puerto Rican style. My mom, on occasion, would make lasagna or hamburgers, but 99% of the time our meals were Spanish. Matter of fact, I learned to cook different types of meals after my divorce. My first husband was a very picky eater and I hated cooking. Now, I love to cook and I will try different recipes and take away or add to the recipes to make it my own. I also came up with my own concoctions and 98% of the time the meals are a hit and this recipe is one of them.

Here is what you would need - You need to adjust this recipe according to the amount of people you are making this for.

Serving for One:
Left over pot roast or steak
1 to 2 eggs
Half of a red sweet pepper
Half of a red onion
2 slices of bacon
Slice of chedder cheese (any chesse is fine)
2 slice of toasted bread

In a pan or grill heat your left over pot roast or steak and also saute your red pepper and onion. This will take about 5 mins.
Next add an egg or two and scramble together.

I always add a pinch of sea salt and black pepper and now you have a yummy egg and steak delight.
Grab your toast and add a slice a cheese and bacon if you like.

This sandwich is so scrumptious and a great way to use that left over pot roast. I promise you one thing, your husband and family will be full after eating this.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again. Have a great week.

Vanessa

Furniture Makeovers - My Girl's Furniture Makeover

*** I added the link to the chalk paint power I used and the name of the white I used as well. ***

A year ago I purchased a few pieces of French Provincial furniture to go into my little girl's room but before I could get started on those pieces I became sick. After 9 months I am finally feeling myself again and I am very happy to be doing what I love to do - being creative. So let me show you what I have been working on the last couple of weeks.

Here is a before picture of the dresser -

Here is the dresser and headboard now. I made my own chalk paint. I used a product called Websters Paint Chalk power and the paint color is called Dove White by Glidden, however when I had the paint sample pod made I had them make it with the Behr's brand.

The top I sealed with water base poly coat in a satin finish, but the drawers and the sides I used ASCP clear wax.

Here is a close-up of the drawers and the other pieces. I painted the sides of the drawers and the vintage mirror in True Turquoise by Glidden Paint and I lined the drawer with this cute bubble gum wrapping paper I found at Marshalls. My sweet girl love glitter so I gave her this glitterly "G" for her room and she loves it.

The headboard was an ugly yellow like the dresser so this white makes this piece clean. Love...
I am catching up with all my DIY projects I have to do before the Holidays and let me tell you the list is long. Thank goodness I am feeling better, Woo Hoo! I appreciate you stopping by and can't wait to share with you my next project.

Hugs,

Vanessa
