How To Give Tarnish Ornaments A Face Lift

Happy Monday!
Trust you had a great Thanksgiving with your family and friends. All, I have to say is yummo! I am still full.
I been working on my Christmas tree for the last three days and I decided I was going to change it up a bit.  As I was taking out my ornaments, I saw these small glass ornaments I purchased last year. However, I notice they where tarnished and I was not happy. I decided not to trash them, but upcycle them and give these ornaments a face lift.

You can see some of the ornaments are not a bright gold.
Do you see the ornament on the top left?  I took Mod Podge and covered the ornament, then covered it with Epsom salt. I love this look, however I plan on crushing the epsom salt to make it more fine and adding it to the rest of the ornaments
I also added glitter to two other samples and I love the way they look too, but its messy.
How do you like my ornament holder? Its clothespin and a toilet paper roll. It works great.
I also used Krylon Gold sprayed paint and the ornament didn't fair well. Out of all my samples I love the epsom salt the best. I Love your sweet comments so drop me a line. Have a great day and I will see you on Wednesday.

Upcycled Christmas Ornament

My family and I had a great time on Thanksgiving and I am in full swing to finish decorating for Christmas. While others are shopping for Black Friday, we stay home and spend time together. Its a sweet time.
Today, as I was trying to finish up my tutorial the paint wasn't working out well. Then I repainted and tried to paint on letters and that didn't work out either. While I was doing this, I kept having this thought to use this broken ornament I had for this project. Everything I used in this project is upcycle materials. The wood piece was from a toy my little girl doesn't have anymore and the ornament was a broken one I used. The paint I had on hand, so over all, this project cost me $0. Love it! So, this is what I came up with -
Do you see the first attempted of painting, ugly! I sprayed Banner Red, my favorite color.
Supplies you will need also scissors works great to trim the ornament. Do you see the metal cap on the ornament, I used it to make stars.
After I lay out my pieces used E600 and a toothpick and laid my pieces down.

Do you like my snow flakes? I love this Christmas wall art and I plan on adding it to my decor this weekend.
I love this time of year and I treasure the times I have with my family and I love making sweet memories for my children. This weekend I plan on watching all these movies with my family. What are you going to do this weekend?

Thank you for stopping by and I LOVE sweet comments, so drop me a line. Have a great weekend!

Christmas Wall Art!

Hello, Friends
I can't believe it's the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas is only 33 days away. Time seem to be going by so fast and all I want to do is to enjoy every minute of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am in a decorating mode for Christmas, however, I just really want to enjoy my time with my husband, children, family and friends. I encourage you to enjoy your time with your family and friends and incorporate your holiday cooking, baking, decorations with them.

In the lasts few months I have been thinking about words which are powerful and encouraging. Words like Peace, Joy, Hope, Faith, Blessed and the list goes on. This year I created a Christmas wall art to display on my mantle and the word I chose is "Peace".

I had a vintage dictionary of the Bible and as I was looking through it, I found this lovely picture of Bethlehem. I wanted to use this picture in my Christmas wall art and this is what I came up with.

Supplies you will need.
Lay out your pages first and then mod podge.
Make sure to fold the corners neatly.
As you mod podge each sheet remove any air bubbles.
All done with the sheets.
Add your letters and any other decor, then mod podge the entire thing.
I added two coats of mod podge, this is what it looks like all dry.
I didn't used the gold paint, but I used a brown ink pad to give it the age look.
Love the looks on the corners.
I am really loving this vintage look.
I love the picture of Bethlehem.
I love how it turned out and I hope you are inspired to create something which means something to you and your family. Have a Bless and Happy Thanksgiving my dear Bloggy Friends! I LOVE your comments, so drop me a line.
Hugs,

Vintage Picture Frame

Hi, Everyone

Just a little something I wiped up and wanted to share with you all. This is another one of my yard sale finds and it only cost me $1. There will be a part two to this picture frame and I will post it in a couple of days, so make sure to stop by.

Plain!
I took the gold paint and I brushed along the edges.
This is the frame with just the coat of gold paint only.
In this step I used black paint and using a dry brushing method I painted along the top of the curvy part of the frame. I also used my finger to rub the black paint in all the nooks and cranny.
Close up where I applied the black paint.
The finish product!
I just love how the frame turned out and I hope you are inspired to create a frame with the same faux vintage look. I Love to hear from you so drop me a line.

Have a great week and keep on creating!

Vintage Mirror

Hello, Friends
Hope you are doing well! The last three weeks have not been normal around here. I had a sick child and husband. Thank God, I am fine and grateful for that. I miss blogging and keeping up with my bloggy friends, so I am excited to be bringing you this new tutorial on turning a mirror and making it look vintage.
I found this piece at a yard sale for .50 cents. I am smiling BIG!
I remove the backing to take the mirror out.
Took an old book and mod podge the pages to frame.
Once the frame is covered with the old book pages I added two coats of Mod Podge.
I took a brown ink pad and went around the edges to give this frame a old feel to it. Once the ink is dried I gave it another coat of Mod Podge (3 coats total). Once the mod podge was dried I check to see if I need to touch up on the brown ink pad.
Finished product!

I didn't paint the frame I just used the brown ink pad and gave it a old look to it.
I love it!
I really love how this mirror turned out. It looks great in my office with my vintage maps and books. I Really Miss You all and I LOVE Comments, so drop me a line. Have a great week and I will be back with my normal posting on Monday.

Hugs,
