Painting Doors and Moldings

Last weekend I started scraping, sanding, priming and painting doors, molding and baseboard. I believe this is why painters charge more money to do this then painting walls. My word, this is tedious work, but I like things done right so I went to work and it took me two days to do my daughter's room. The people who lived in this home before us, painted over the doors, molding and baseboard with white paint, but something went work and the paint started to peel by the time we moved into the house. Before I could paint, I had to scrap the paint off and then sanded, prim it and paint it. I am glad I took my time, because the doors, baseboard and molding look great!

The door was not painting properly. 

Most of the baseboard, molding and doors look like this. 

Use your scraper to remove peeling paint then use sanding paper to remove any bits left. 

I didn't have primer, so I took regular white interior  paint and added a little water to it and mix well. It should be a creamy texture. I have used this method many times and it work great. I do this if I don't have primer handy and one coat of primer does the trick.  

Here is one of the doors all finished. No peeling paint and the door is smooth. 

There your have it and I am so grateful, I found this gallon of white paint at Home Depot for $7 dollars. It was in the rejected section and the clerk opened it up and didn't know what was wrong with it. So, I get to do all the doors and baseboards for $7 dollars. WooHoo! Love it!
